We went out to the beautiful city of Vancouver, BC last week for the long-awaited GROW Conference.

The second annual event was one of the largest gatherings of technology entrepreneurs, investors and followers in the country. I took part for the second time, while Andrew and Evan joined for the first time.

Reading Notes

We captured a lot of notes from the week’s content, which you can find in our notebook on Rocketr. It’s been pretty useful to have multiple people in the room add in, as well as having the notes to refer back to now.

Thanks to Adil from My City Lives, Lenny from Localmind, and Matt from Hipsell for contributing.

Making Pitches

We were excited to also see Rocketr pitch on stage, after it was selected as one of the top 4 startups from the top 15 at launch party - the only one outside of BC! The team rolled out a brand new iPhone application (more to come on this), which we saw a ton of feedback, downloads and ideas for.

Congratulations goes to the pitches’ winner Unbounce for their amazing progress, as well as to the other finalists Summify and Tiipz.

Meeting People

I spent time in the city through Gastown, Yaletown, Coal Harbour and Financial District, while connecting with good folks from Ottawa, Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, and even here in Toronto.

There’s an unmistakable energy in the room when you have that many really interesting, hard-working and fun people together from across the country. Andrew, Evan and I really valued being a part of it all.

Jet Cooper was a seed sponsor for the 2011 GROW Conference. We designed the main website and built the sweet Twitter walls at the opening party.

If you attended, let us know your feedback.

I believe Startup Festival in Montreal was the biggest gathering of tech entrepreneurs this year.

Ah, yes from a # of attendees standpoint. I’ve updated the post accordingly, thanks!

I know Andrew and Arati have some follow-up comments on Startup Festival coming soon.
